NEW: Evening Drawing Classes for Adults
Drawing is at the heart of almost every art form and the ability to draw is
linked with careful observation and the ability to see. In these drawing
classes, Shane Gregory will cover fundamentals such as the use of materials, form,
perspective, and proportion. These basics of drawing combined with continued
practice will help you develop your skill and confidence. This class is for
beginners and those wanting to brush up on their skills.
Teacher: Shane Gregory is an award-winning artist in both drawing and
painting. His colorful and detailed work was recently on display in the Guild's
Ice House Gallery.
When: Thursdays April 17th, 24th, and May 1st
Time: 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Cost: $30 for Guild members & $40 for non-members. There is a basic
materials list.

Barns and Buildings in Acrylic by Tom Johnson
Mayfield artist Tom Johnson specializes in painting rural landscapes and
barns of the region and has taught many acrylic painting classes at the Guild.
Tom uses inexpensive materials to create his nostalgic paintings, making this an
excellent class for beginners. Tom will lead his students through a complete
painting during the course of the two evening workshops.
When: April 22nd and 23rd
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Cost: $30 for Guild members and $40 for non-members. There is a basic
materials list.

Oval Server Basket Workshop
The oval server basket has an oak base and leather side handles and is the
perfect size for serving bread or chips. This beautiful basket will add to the
decor of any table so you may want to order an extra kit to make as a gift. It
is quick and easy basket with a continuous weave designed for beginners. An
example of the project is on display at the Guild. Class size is limited.
Instructor: Patty Feather has been weaving baskets for 15 years and
teaching for the last six years. Patty is an active member of three
basket-weaving guilds and is the Western KY representative on the Executive
Board of the Kentucky Basket Association.
When: Saturday, May 3rd
Time: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with a short break for lunch.
Cost: $45 for Guild members and $50 for all others. Fee includes all
materials for a complete basket.

Elegant Recycling - Rolled Paper Bead Jewelry
These aren't your kindergarten rolled paper beads - this is the ultimate in
elegant recycling. Judy Brent will conduct a workshop for beginners, in which
participants will make colorful beads of rolled paper that look like miniature
works of art.
Instructor: Judy Brent, the owner of J. Brent Originals, is known for her
jewelry and detailed craftsmanship. Judy is a retired school teacher who has
been in the handcraft business for many years and is a regular participant in
the Guild's annual Artisan Sale.
Judy has a Girl Scout troop coming in next. If your ladies club
or youth group wants a fun activity then give us a call for this special group
rate.

NEW! Artists Group
The organizational meeting for the new artists group will be Thursday
evening April 24th at 6:00 pm. The first meeting should only last about an hour
with the purpose of deciding a regular meeting date and time plus your input of
the direction of the group. If you are
motivated by gathering with others to discuss artwork and share ideas, then we
welcome you here. Guild members and their guests are invited to bring their work
(either completed or in-progress) and engage in regular group critiques and
discussions here at the guild. Call the office if you are interested in finding
out more.

NEW! Jewelry-Making Group
On the 2nd Wednesday of each month, the guild will host a jewelry-making
group for beginners as well as more advanced jewelry makers. Bring your own
supplies and work on your own projects while sharing ideas, techniques,
supplies, etc. The group will meet on April 9th beginning at 10:30 am to
consider topics of interest for future meetings. Did someone say lunch...?

NEW! Spoon Challenge Woodcarving Study Group
Master woodcarver James Phillip Dobson leads an informal woodcarving study
group that meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 2:30. The next meeting is
April 15th. Jimmie Viniard and Lewis Steele have issued a challenge to all
woodcarvers to create a carved spoon. Jimmie is donating the
wood blanks in walnut, bass and red maple. Bring your ideas and your curiosity.

The Ice House Quilters
The Ice House Quilters share tips and information as they work on projects.
They begin work on their quilts at 10:00. Join the Quilters each first and third
Wednesday.

Guild Board Meeting
Guild Board meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00. The
next meeting is March 11th.

Ice House Knitters Guild and Fiber Arts Group
From beginners to more advanced fiber artists, this group is always happy to
share tips and techniques. Bring your lunch and your fiber project - whether its
knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, doll making or wearable art. Come on
any Tuesday morning at 11:00 for the informal gathering.
